Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

Hearing so many fantastic reviews on this palette and being an absolute consumer I finally gave in and got myself the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Light to Medium. I held off buying this for so long as I’m not into a dramatic contour and I hate a powdery finish but this palette was so highly reviewed that I had high hopes it would be as good as it sounded. It sure is lovely, these shades are so pigmented and blend so effortlessly into the skin that a soft subtle finish can be easily achieved with the tiniest amount of product.

There are 6 pans of colour, all of which can be purchased individually to refill the palette, which is great, especially if like me you favour a few of the shades and won’t work through all the pans at the same time. The top row are highlighting shades, the top middle pan the ‘banana’ powder is by far my most used, for it’s brightening and under eye illuminating capabilities. The bottom row are the contouring and bronzing powders, the bottom middle pan, ‘fawn’, a grey toned brown is perfect for a classic shadow contour.

The palette on the whole is smaller than I thought it would be and I’m not in love with the packaging, it looks dirty straight away and would benefit greatly from a mirror, but it is small and thus easy to store and travel with.

I like how the highlighting shades are not to chunky so you can build up the intensity without having bits of shimmer on the face, I’m a big fan of halo highlighting for a healthy glow as opposed to a more evening look – note I have no evening social life so I have no need for a strong highlight, I’m certain if you were after that look you could achieve it by building the product up.

All the brushes I’ve used with this palette work great, so I wouldn’t say you need a specific type of brush, just whatever suits you, or whatever you use already with your powder products. I reach for my Bh Cosmetics 109 duo fibre brush for bronzing, swirling in either or both bronze shades lightly and then applying that to the high points of my face and it seems to deposit the perfect amount of product and add a nice amount of colour. I then use the bhcosmetics 108 brush in the ‘vanilla’ to set my face makeup if I’m after longevity with my base.

If you love to contour this kit is a must, if you are wanting to try contouring and highlighting, or if you are after a new setting powder I would still say yes to going for this, I am pretty sure you could not be disappointed.

If you have this let me know what you think of it, I now have the Lorac Pro palette in my sights, it’s a true addiction so don’t judge me. Thanks for stopping by and reading as always.

37 Down : 55 To Go

Hey gorgeous people I hope you had a brilliant Halloween and Guy Fawkes night, this year seems to be flying over now and everywhere I look it seems Christmas is fast approaching, which is fantastic!

My post today is a ‘What I Wore’ for a family day out to Fremantle

The navy and white striped skirt and white cropped top are both from Dotti, I saw them hung together in the shop and loved them as an outfit. I’m also wearing flat white sandals from Forever New and a dark denim jacket also Forever New.

I used bumble and bumble hairdressers secret oil in my hair then curled it with my straightening iron, I ran my fingers through so it had a waved effect rather than tight curls.

My make up is NARS Sheer Glow Foundation MECCA, MAYBELLINE Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer Priceline, NARS Orgasm Blush MECCA, Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Golden Light BOBBI BROWN and MAYBELLINE Lash Sensational Mascara Priceline.

Sophie is wearing the girls kinetic 3/4 leggings, t-shirt and zip through hoodie all from Target kids sportswear with her DC neon hi-tops.

The weather was a little overcast but we all had a lovely day. Fremantle always has free things to see and do for kids and lots of bustling street entertainment. I always feel like I’m on holiday when were strolling around, especially on a weekend when the markets are all set up. We’ve had brunch at a few of the cafes on the strip now and it’s one of my absolute favourite things to do. It’s hard to describe the vibe, but if you like vegan, or granola, tie dyed clothing or anything with a relaxed hippy type feel you would love Fremantle.

As always hanks for reading and I hope you all have a lovely weekend whatever you’re up to.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Review

IMG_8488

Available in 10 shades from  Kit Cosmetics in Australia, Sephora in U.S.A and any beauty hall such as Selfridges in U.K

This is another great ‘no makeup, makeup’ base. A sun lotion, BB, CC, tinted moisturiser with skin loving ingredients to moisturise and nourish dry, thirsty skin.

This is am amazing BB/CC cream which looks and feels so comfortable to wear you will forget you are wearing makeup. I have the shade 02 Vanilla, which matches me perfectly, I like to apply a thin layer with my finger tips and I don’t powder as I like a dewy look, but it can be layered to provide more coverage and powdered to give a matte finish. It has an spf of 30 and you get 35 ml/1.18 fl. oz of product.

The tube is lightweight, compact and, perfect to travel with or as an everyday option to throw in your bag without worrying it will smash all over.

You can still see my freckles showing through but it evens out my skin tone and more importantly for me hydrates my skin throughout the day. I do love my light bases and any makeup with skin care benefits is a wonder product in my eyes. Have you tried this? and do you love it?

I hope you had a gorgeous weekend and have a great week. Thanks for reading, love as always

Today is a monochrome kinda day and there will be quite a few of these, I just love Black and white. My top and skirt are from FOREVER NEW, they are a few years old but you can find similar everywhere. The sandals are my Mum’s, she is visiting from U.K and is somewhat doubtful of my 33 items challenge to say the least. The hat I picked up from Kmart recently, my shades are from Cotton:On and my bracelet as always is Pandora.

I know it’s pretty basic but I like it. The top is a sheer fabric that air dries in about 15 minutes and does not crease, it’s all I could wish for in an item of clothing. I’m glad it’s nice and sunny here so my laundry has a fast turn around, I wonder how hard it is in the Winter when it is not so easy to wash and dry clothing so frequently??

For Makeup today I’m keeping things simple with Arbonne CC Cream, M.A.C Matte Bronze Bronzer and Lancome Hypnose Mascara

I hope you are all having a lovely Friday. If you have a capsule wardrobe please leave me a comment so I can come check it out. I’m loving the blog posts and YouTube videos I have found so far, very inspirational.

Thanks for reading and I’ll speak soon. As always Nicola x

Not Just Another CC Cream…

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset

Arbonne is a new find for me, I’d heard about it here and there but as a firm beauty hall junkie I never really gave it a shot, until I had a test of the RE9 Advanced Set, Extra Moisture skin care and the arbonne intelligence CC CREAM and now I’m a complete convert.

I have tried my fair share of skin care (try saying that 5 times in a row!) and my standards are pretty high. I like a different day cream to night cream, I need a lightweight, good under makeup, high spf day cream and a thick, hydrating wonder cream at night. I love a serum as my skin is dehydrated and I have a 16 month old so hard working eye cream is a must. This set is everything I need and more and I saw a noticeable difference in how soft my skin felt after about a week. The day cream and the eye cream are my favourite 2 products I felt they gave the most dramatic results on my skin. You can get sample packs which are ideal, especially if you are unsure which range would be the best fit for your skin’s needs. The sets would make a wonderful gift for the women in your life or if someone doesn’t know what to get for you this is a fantastic suggestion

In the CC Cream I am the fairest shade and even that looks pretty dark when you squeeze it out, but once you blend it in it just leaves a beautiful tint which adapts to your individual skin tone. It is a light coverage and has an Spf of 20 so perfect for a day time base. It gives a luminous but matte finish on it’s own and is perfect as a primer to make any fuller coverage foundation go on more evenly for a perfect base. It truly is skincare meets cosmetics and gives a beautiful, healthy looking complexion.

The whole company does not test on animals and is vegan friendly, a massive bonus.

Have you tried anything from Arbonne? What would you recommend?

Thanks for reading my little review, talk to you soon
