Smashbox renowned for their photo finish primers have released a range of products to target specific skin needs
My skin is dehydrated so I use the blue HYDRATING oil free primer which gives a smooth canvas and leaves the skin feeling soft and refreshed
If you fear layering products on the face as I did, i strongly suggest giving this a try…

Boujours Radiance reveal healthy mix foundation, a firm drugstore favourite of many
gives a satin finish without looking overly dewy or shiny
This foundation uses ‘fruit therapy’ to help condition the skin leaving it hydrated and luminous
I use the Real Techniques beauty sponge or my Bobbi Brown Full Coverage buffing brush to apply this all over my face and down my neck.

My partner returned from a recent trip to Singapore with the Amazing cosmetics amazing concealer which has bold claims of being the ‘best concealer in the world’…
hmmmm I’m not sure I agree with that, it has fantastic coverage and a tiny amount is all you need
but it is immensely drying and without a hydrating eye cream or under eye primer emphasises the fine lines under my eyes
Collection lasting perfection concealer is a great dupe for this and the finish is very similar.

IMG_8481-2

My contour is kevin Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium
This is a beautiful, beautiful ashy shade that looks like a shadow rather than a warm bronze
If I get over zealous with this it does give the opposite effect to what I want and makes me look drawn, not a great look on anyone

For cheeks I use Max Factor Miracle Touch Cream Blush in 14 Soft Pink
Lightly dabbed onto the high points of my cheeks with my finger tips
This lasts well throughout the day and looks dewy and polished
I have started wearing my blush higher and farther back on my face as I found this far more flattering

I have a wash of Urban Decay Foxy on my lids and a slick of Miss Manga Mascara in black on my top and bottom lashes
Brows are E.L.F Brow kit in Ash as always

What are the products you have been loving?
And what are you eager to try/

Have a lovely day and thanks for reading

Just a Jumper Dress…

IMG_7778

Is there anything easier to wear than a jumper dress?

To me the pro’s of a one item outfit are many…
Not worrying about coordination or accessories and feeling put together and smart to name a few.
I have missed wearing dresses as Sienna is still feeding, however she has cut down her feeding so much that during the day I now have some freedom back in my outfit choices.
August means Australian Winter is in full force and there are many rainy days.
It is not cold, like U.K Winter cold but it can still be pretty chilly
These jumper dresses with a cowl neck have been re-released for a few years now
Versatile and flattering
A great piece that you can wear with a biker jacket, a denim jacket or a scarf and completely change the look

‘Move to Australia” they said
‘The weather is gorgeous” they said…

These overcast dull days mean that layering is not just a fashion statement, it is a must!
When we leave on the school run it is cold, sometimes wet and windy,
however by lunch time the sun is out and it is positively lovely
Today I opted for Soft stretch jeans and a knitted sleeveless vest
Ankle boots and my trusty leather biker jacket

A leather jacket if you find one you adore, will last for years, they can be dressed up or down, go with literally everything and never go out of style

Yes finding a pair of jeans you not only love but that love you back is a mission but again once you find them thats a match made in denim clad heaven.

I love me some black ankle boots, flat or heeled they are a no brainer.

When M.U.A’s Play…

DSC00955

I’m a big fan of natural makeup, but sometimes it’s nice to glam things up, just because it’s a Thursday
– or just because you went to see Rihanna and now feel every bit the empowered siren!
It’s so easy to get stuck in a makeup rut, wearing the same shades and tones,
(I am a naked basics girl 90% of the time)
However I thought I would share this look that a M.U.A friend of mine did for me.

@ came round and we had a fab girly day
Involving hot chocolate, online shopping, more coffee than should really be consumed and make overs
The resulting look a beautiful, but more importantly wearable orange eye and flawless skin.

DSC00956

Starting with M.A.C Paint Pot in Painterly as a base all over the lid
then going straight in with a vibrant orange from Sleek I-DIVINE EYESHADOW PALETTE IN ULTRA MATTES V1 over the top, patting, blending, repeat until the colour popped
The same shade was taken under the lid for balance
The rest of the eye is exactly the same as I usually wear
A warm toned brown above the crease, I love my M.A.C Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze for this
M.A.C Pro Long wear Eyeshadow in Make Your Mark in the crease as well as the outer corners
Then finished with a liquid liner and black mascara
My base is Chanel Vitalumiere
With M.A.C Select Coverup Concealer under my eyes, blended well
To contour Shauna used M.A.C Select Cover-up concealer 2 shades darker than my skin tone which gave such a subtle blend-able contour that looks incredibly natural
Finishing off with M.A.C Mineralise Skin Finish in Light under eye and through the T zone and then M.A.C Mineralise Skin Finish in Medium Plus over the contour and around the perimeters of the face.
I absolutely love the finished look and think the orange works wonders with my blue eyes.

Is It Ever Just Makeup? …

Is It Ever Just Makeup?

Hi Lovlies

While thinking of blog ideas  and ways to share new information I realised it would be better to share with you some of the most important things I already know.

Wiggly line flashback…

I was one of those teens with flawless skin, other girls were envious and I took it for granted. Then at 25 every spot I should of had through school erupted on my face at once, adult acne.

The next few years were pretty low, but after many visits to a doctor I was referred to a dermatologist, given roaccutane and my skin cleared up.

The term pretty low is me crying on the landing because the thought of going out made me feel physically sick, spending every spare penny on foundations, concealers and creams that made no difference at all, and hating what I saw in a mirror.

This is what those 3 years taught me and what I want you all to do.

Try to care less about what other people think

Most people will not notice how your skin is behaving that day, people will never look at you with the amount of scrutiny you have just given yourself in the bathroom mirror. They will see your smile, it will cheer them up.

Have perspective

We all have our own things going on, you may study every woman’s complexion with a fiery envy, but at the same time she could be looking at your waistline and battling her own demons. Try to make the most of the positive things you have going on, that is hard, but you miss out on so much when you don’t stop looking at yourself to look around.

Have confidence

I’m sure you have read and heard countless times that confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can have, it is so true.
Try to spend time with the people that make you feel special, no matter how you look. Your best friend or your Mum, and when you get low imagine how they see you, how they love you.
Try to be that person as much as you can.

Money does not matter

No-one knows what brand your makeup is when you pass them on the street.
Makeup should be about creating a look and having fun with your features, from glamorous doe eyes to a sexy red lip.
The best concealer that has ever been blogged/ YouTubed about is collection 2000 lasting perfection. It is one of the cheapest on the market!

Know that you are not alone

However you feel about something, there will be millions other people feeling the same way. I used to watch YouTube ‘foundation routines for acne skin’ and there are hundreds of videos with the bravest girls showing how they cover things up and what helps them leave the house. Watch them, even if you do not have acne, they are inspirational.

Whatever your worries are about, find someone to talk to. your problems are not stupid or silly, and there is help out there.
Whatever makes you happy or sad is important.

You are important.

Thanks for reading and have a gorgeous day my lovelies.
